Is it, "allowed" in the fashion world to wear a white gown to an evening event. The Marine Corps Ball is approaching and I get to buy a new dress. The one I've spotted is an ivory shade and beautiful. My vanity becomes a little unraveled at the thought of showing up to the ball in an ivory colored gown, when every one except me seems to know you only wear such a thing to a wedding.
So what's the verdict, a go or a no go?

I would say as long as it wouldn't be mistaken as a wedding gown then it's a go.
i.e. If it doesn't have a train and you're not planning to wear a veil.
From one fashion expert to another...
I have no clue.
bummer, i'll have to send back that veil..
The old tried and true fashion rules about not wearing white or ivory after Labor Day or not to a night time event are just that "old"! Wear it and be beautiful. There is nothing wrong with this choice for the ball. Love, Mom R
I agree with Teresa ... it is an old notion. Some things actually change for the good. So long as you don't look like a bride .. but a princess ... you are in the fashion world of beauty! Wear and feel like a princess.
Thank you for all the tips, lack of tips and praises nonetheless!
