Coffee Anyone?

For Christmas this year Jake and I are going to purchase a new coffee maker. The one we currently have is temperamental and no longer operates as was intended. Because piping hot coffee is such an integral part of our day every day, I'm curious what, if any, coffee maker would you heartily recommend? We don't one that makes a single cup. Jake brings an entire carafe to work with him each day so the single serve won't work. With that said it needs to be the real deal.

Mom has heard that both Macys and Sears have good coffee makers that grind and brew, Dad is only into the Mc Donalds Senior coffees if he has to pay more that 3 bites .75 he starts the "back in the day routine" which is embarassing.

I'm heartily in favor of the French press, but I can see that it would not suit your needs. A CARAFE???? I still think of him as a "new" coffee drinker :)

We aren't fancy, but must have coffee every morning. We have a Cuisinart and are very pleased. It is a middle of the line machine and I opted NOT to have the grinder in it as I know 2 family members who had that feature and it broke on both of theirs. I bought it on amazon.com. Good prices there if you know what you are looking for.

We did have a Bunn that we liked and left it in Cabo. I will say, it was fast, but I can tell a taste difference in a slow drip brewing machine. Much better coffee taste in the slow drip.

I don't recommend the single cup anyways... we had a Keurig that made amazing coffee but it stopped working within a year. When I googled the problem online, I found that Keurigs have a quality issue. We are back to a basic old coffee pot from walmart:(

We have a basic 10c Krups that came into the marriage with Ethan, and it is still going strong!
