Mother's Day Fun

We had some terrific storms yesterday. What started out as a quiet afternoon with popcorn and a game of Yahtzee ended up as an evening in the bathtub, together as a family. Very strange and humid. Why, you may ask. The weather and a series of telephone calls by a concerned father prompted this. We looked online at weatherchannel.com and there was a splendid tornado warning in front of us. Pinpointing the exact time the tornado would be at our area of the city. As soon as the storm passed another warning, and so on, and so on. Each time they lifted the warning we would surface from the bathtub, eat ice cream, crackers and cheese, popcorn, drink cold water, you get the picture. The pictures tell our story well.

Wow, that storm somehow skipped past us. We had no idea the weather was that bad until this morning when Damian and I drove to Jacksonville down 17 and saw a store and about six mobile homes that were torn apart from the tornado that hit Belgrade & Maysville. The natural disasters around the world this past week have been a reminder to me of God's power & my helplessness apart from Him. It would be terrifying not knowing Him & resting on His sovereignty and the fact that He commands the winds and the water, and they obey Him.
Anyway, this is getting really long --sorry about that. What a memorable Mother's Day! Rub a dub dub, Mother's Day was spent in the tub! ;)

Becky that is hilarious. I think I'll coin your last sentence. You're right about the storms across the world. It's only manageable within my soul knowing God is the Sovereign King!!

Do you remember the storm at Briarmeadow that knocked the pine tree into the pool?
You guys were supposed to be in the bathtub, while I was watching for the tornado, only to turn around as the tree fell to see three faces peering through the sliding glass door?

I don't remember dad. I do remember a huge branch or tree falling into the pool in Maine before the hurricane. All of the salamanders that followed the storm too!

the next time you go to the tub ... just bring the popcorn and icecream with you. Clean up is a breeze!

mom, you're absolutely right! How could I have been so dull? Next time we'll eat in the bathtub.
